Termbase editor toolbar
The glossary toolbar works with term entries in the displayed language pair. Use it to maintain terminology directly in the table, open Properties, and prepare changes across several entries.
Open its gear to choose term commands and research links. Toolbar controls explains configuration and shortcuts; the termbase editor explains the complete workspace.
Select, unlock, edit, and confirm

| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| Unlock | Unlocks the selected group when it contains locked entries. A row's own lock control can unlock one entry individually. |
| Confirm | Saves selected pending changes and locks the saved entries again. The default shortcut is Ctrl+Enter. |
| Properties | Opens the selected entries' wording, examples, matching settings, and Forbidden flags in the right-side tab |
| Select all | Selects the current filtered term set, including entries outside the screen |
| Previous term / Next term | Moves through the displayed term entries |
| Undo / Redo | Moves through available term editing history |
For one correction, select the entry, unlock it, edit the source or target cell, and Confirm. To correct several entries, filter the table, select and unlock the rows, make the changes, and check them before confirming.
Confirm after saving property changes
Properties → Save applies your changes to working entries and can unlock affected entries. Review those entries and Confirm to finish saving pending resource edits. See Term locks and saving.
Clean up source or target wording
Cleanup uses selected term entries and the active source or target side. Click the appropriate language cell before selecting a group and running the command. Locked entries are protected from these wording changes.
| Command | When it helps |
|---|---|
| Toggle case | Adjust the selected wording or term capitalization according to the current selection |
| Remove numbers | Remove unwanted numbers carried over from extraction or import |
| Remove any non word character | Remove unwanted non-word characters from the relevant term wording |
| Remove brackets & slashes | Remove those characters when they are extraction debris |
These tools remove characters; they do not decide which characters are meaningful terminology. A model number, slash, or bracket may belong in a valid term. Start with a small selection, inspect the result, and use Undo if necessary. Confirm only the entries you intend to keep.
The cleanup buttons appear when the selected wording contains the relevant characters. Their absence can mean there is nothing applicable on the active side.
Find and research terminology
Filter narrows the term table using the current terminology context. Find & replace opens the term replacement panel; its Next, Replace, and Replace All controls use the panel's search and scope settings. Replace All concerns the filtered term set, rather than every row selected for another operation.
Use the Concordance tab for saved memory examples and Context for available example segment pairs. Configured research links and groups give additional ways to investigate wording. Researching a term does not itself confirm an edit.
Use the term filter bar's Clear all to restore the loaded language-pair table after the investigation.
Delete selected terms
Delete terms removes the selected concepts. In a multilingual glossary, a concept can have other language forms beyond the pair currently displayed. A lock protects editing; it does not prevent deliberate Delete.
Deletion and Dedupe have different scopes from ordinary typing and confirmation. Read Bulk editing and maintenance before removing groups of entries. Do not use deletion simply to clear a search: use Clear all for that.
Identify the command icons
These cards show the commands in the termbase toolbar's gear menu. Checking a card adds the command to the toolbar. Its availability also depends on the selected terms, locks, and active language cell.
Confirm

Select the term entries whose pending changes are ready to save and Confirm. Saved entries become locked again.
Properties → Save applies changes to working entries; review those entries and Confirm to finish saving resource edits.
Unlock

Select one or several locked entries and unlock them before editing their wording. You can also unlock one entry with its row’s own lock control.
Check the active source or target cell before a wording cleanup operation.
Properties

Select the intended entries and open Properties in the side panel. Inspect or edit their term forms, examples, matching choices, and Forbidden flags.
Save the property changes, inspect the affected entries in the table, and Confirm pending edits.
Select all

Select every term entry in the current filtered language-pair table, including entries outside the screen. Check the filters before unlocking, cleaning up, or deleting a group.
Toggle case

Activate the intended source or target wording and adjust its capitalization. Unlock the relevant entries first and inspect proper names or abbreviations afterward.
Undo

Return to an earlier available editing state. Read the affected wording or rows after undoing; the change may involve more than the cell containing the cursor.
Undo is unavailable when there is no earlier state in the current editing history.
Redo

Reapply a change you previously undid. Inspect the resulting text or row arrangement before continuing.
Redo is unavailable when there is no later state to restore.
Remove numbers

Activate the source or target side and select unlocked entries containing unwanted numbers. Remove numbers only when they are import or extraction debris.
Model numbers and other numerical identifiers may be part of a valid term. Inspect the result and Confirm only the entries you intend to keep.
Remove non-word characters

Activate the intended language side and select unlocked entries to clean. This removes non-word characters from their wording.
Punctuation can belong in a valid term. Start with a small selection, inspect the result, and use Undo if it removes meaningful characters.
Remove brackets and slashes
![(. . remove brackets & slashes. Remove text in brackets () [] {} and after slashes /. EDIT (. . remove brackets & slashes. Remove text in brackets () [] {} and after slashes /. EDIT](/screenshots/commands/terms/terms_removeBracketsAndSlashes.png?v=842f0ad9c4b6)
Use this on selected unlocked entries when brackets or slashes are unwanted extraction debris on the active language side.
Check technical names and alternatives before applying it broadly: these characters can carry meaning.
Find and Replace

Open the term replacement panel and check its search wording, language side, and options. Use Next to inspect occurrences before replacing.
Replace All uses the filtered term set, rather than the selection prepared for another toolbar operation. Review and Confirm pending edits afterward.
Filter

Use the current terminology wording to narrow the term table for inspection. The filter does not change or confirm the entries.
Choose Clear all in the term filter bar to restore the full loaded language-pair table.
Previous term

Move to the preceding displayed entry. Check active filters if the expected entry is missing.
Next term

Move to the following displayed entry. Moving through entries is separate from confirming their pending changes.
Delete terms

Select the concepts you intend to remove. Deleting several entries asks for confirmation; deleting one can proceed directly. In a multilingual glossary, deletion can remove language forms beyond the displayed pair.
A lock does not prevent deliberate Delete. Use Clear all to remove a filter; do not delete entries merely to clear a search.
