Settings and account

Searchspeare has separate pages for general preferences, editor preferences, resource settings, and account information. The sections below explain where to change each kind of setting.

Where to start

Use Settings → Preferences for working languages, connections, storage, and Non-AI mode. In an editor, use Settings → Advanced for editor preferences or Settings → Shortcuts for key assignments.

General preferences

Open Settings → Preferences for working languages, available integrations, storage choice, and Non-AI mode.

Working languages help you select relevant language varieties throughout the app. They are different from the source and target languages of an existing project. If a client requires a particular regional variety, verify it in the project as well.

The storage choice determines whether you work locally or in the available cloud workspace. Read Storage and backups before changing it to find a project or move work between devices.

Non-AI mode is useful when you want manual translation and the non-AI tools without AI controls or automatic AI assistance. Turn it off to show the available AI tools again.

Editor preferences

Open the editor's Settings tools. Search the settings list or browse its sections to find the relevant control.

Use Settings → Advanced for the full editor preferences. The View ribbon exposes common display choices directly, and the Settings ribbon guide explains shortcuts and advanced settings.

AreaExamples of choices
DisplaySuggestions visibility, formatting colors, Status Bar, and caret
Segments MenuVisibility, row layout, and command filtering
Fuzzy matchesAdapted memory matches and their automatic insertion
SuggestionsAutomatic translation/review, whole-row confirmation, upcoming candidates, and Intellisense
Workspace toolsOptional Index preparation, export naming, and shortcut feedback

Confirm segment after applying all row changes controls automatic confirmation of a complete preview row. Enable it only if applying a complete preview row should also request segment confirmation. Accepting an isolated word-level difference is a different action. Otherwise keep proposal acceptance and final confirmation as separate steps.

Some options are unavailable when the selected service or remaining allowance cannot support them. Check the explanatory text before treating a disabled control as a broken setting.

Manage abbreviations, stopwords, and rules

Use Settings → Shortcuts for key bindings, Settings → Abbreviations for sentence-boundary protection, and Settings → Stopwords for words that should be treated differently by terminology and text-analysis tools.

Stopwords are language-specific common words or other entries that influence the relevant analysis. They are not a general do-not-translate list for every document. Use the appropriate glossary, AI rule, extraction protection, or project instruction for those needs.

Use Glossaries, AI rules, and QA to maintain those different resources instead of looking for every behavior under Preferences.

Connect translation services and turn AI off

For microphone input in the desktop app, follow Desktop dictation. It explains speech-model installation, language, the hold shortcut, the test page, cancellation, and recovery of a transcript. Dictation recognizes spoken wording; it is separate from AI translation and from a long-audio transcription workflow.

The separate DeepL integration can be configured through its available account controls. The desktop app also provides controls for your own AI-service connection. Those AI key controls are not available in the browser app.

Configure the integration you intend to use, save it, and check the configured status. Removing a connection affects the availability of actions that depend on it. Searchspeare-hosted AI uses your Searchspeare account and does not require a separate AI service key.

Account and subscription information

Open Settings → Your Details for your profile and business identity information. Keep these accurate if you create quotations or invoices.

Open Settings → Subscriptions for the plans and allowance information currently available to the account. Availability can differ by plan and release stage. If the page shows a launch notice or Notify action rather than checkout, use the choices actually offered there; a plan description alone is not an active purchase flow.

The Notify action uses the signed-in account's email and asks for the consent described on the page. Registering interest is different from buying or changing a subscription.

For a local backup or transfer, use Settings → DB. For a problem you cannot resolve, follow Submit feedback, including the file type, action, reproduction steps, and visible message.
