Tags ribbon

The Tags tab concerns formatting and other protected markers carried with your text. Some controls change how markers appear; others concern translation handling or inspection.

Hidden tags are still in the document

Use a compact size for normal reading and a fuller display when identifying markers or investigating an issue. Hiding tags does not delete them, repair a mismatch, or remove formatting from the delivered document.

Translation and project controls

Use Tags In Translation is also available from the Searchspeare tab. It changes tag handling in applicable translation requests, not the visual size of a tag.

Custom Tags opens the current project's custom-tag editor. Maintain the project's intended protected markers there. This control is not offered in the memory editor's ribbon.

XLIFF opens the active segment's underlying structured content for inspection. Use it when investigating a concrete tag or segment issue. Normal translating and reviewing do not require working in that representation.

Insert or repair a tag

Use the segment toolbar and the editor's tag tools for insertion, removal, and repair. Those are content operations, so check selection, cursor position, and the required markers first.

Keep any segmentation-boundary markers needed for Restore Original. They are not cosmetic clutter. The full tag guide explains how to compare source and target and investigate mismatches before export.
