Terminology ribbon
The Terminology tab helps turn translation decisions into reusable glossary entries. A good term pair expresses the same concept in both languages and has suitable context.

Add Term
- Select a source expression and its target counterpart in the current segment.
- Choose Add Term.
- Inspect the wording and destination glossary in the term editor.
- Add useful examples and choose the relevant matching or Forbidden settings.
- Save through the term-creation workflow.
This opens the term editor so you can refine the entry. It is different from simply selecting several whole segments, or using a quick-add command when the pair is already suitable.
See Glossaries and termbases for matching behavior, examples, and project use.
Extract Glossary
Extraction uses filtered segments with target text
In the translation workspace, Extract Glossary uses the filtered segments with nonempty target text. It does not simply extract only the currently selected rows. Set the filters, then inspect the candidates and save the terms you want to keep.
The extraction workflow offers the available methods for the material and settings. A statistically recurring phrase or an assisted suggestion still needs a terminology decision. Extract a glossary explains the full process.
In the memory editor, the corresponding extraction reads the selected memory resource. Alignment uses its translated alignment content. These workspace-specific paths are described in Other workspace ribbons.
Consult terminology during translation
Use Term Matches for recognized entries, File Index for repeated source wording, and Review → Check Terms for terminology findings. These tools have different sources and purposes.
Single-language review hides the bilingual terminology controls. Attach and maintain project glossaries through Project Home when working in a bilingual project.
