The Alignment Toolbar
Alignment work is all about quick, precise fixes: split, merge, swap rows, realign, and protect validated ranges. The Alignment toolbar is a floating command palette that keeps those actions close while you clean up alignments.
This page documents every command available in the Alignment toolbar.
Status
Lock point

Locks all units before this lock point and after the next lock point, so the span between lock points stays protected during realignment.
Bookmark

Toggles a bookmark on the selected units so you can return to them quickly later.
Undo
Undo

Reverts the most recent alignment change.
Redo

Reapplies the last undone alignment change.
Move
Push up

If your cursor is in the source segment, it pushes up the selected source segment and all rows below it. If your cursor is in the target segment, it affects the target rows instead.
Push down

If your cursor is in the source segment, it pushes down the selected source segment and all rows above it. If your cursor is in the target segment, it affects the target rows instead.
Swap

Swaps the selected rows with the next row. If you select two translation units, it swaps those two units directly.
Split
Split up

Splits the current segment upward, merging the split part into the row above in the active column (source or target).
Split up (new row)

Splits the current segment upward and inserts the split part as a new row.
Split down

Splits the current segment downward, merging the split part into the row below in the active column (source or target).
Split down (new row)

Splits the current segment downward and inserts the split part as a new row.
Search

Edit
Select all

Selects all units in the alignment list.
Add empty segment

Realign from here

Realigns from the selected unit to the end in batches between lock points. Think of lock points as “anchors”: the tool realigns only the open stretches between anchors, and leaves the protected ranges untouched.
Merge
Merge units

Merges the selected units into one.
Merge source

Merges the selected source segments.
Merge target

Merges the selected target segments.
Delete

Delete sources

Deletes the selected source segments.
Delete targets

Deletes the selected target segments.
Delete units

Deletes both source and target for the selected units.
