Ribbon
The ribbon is the horizontal command bar at the top of Searchspeare.
It’s designed for two things:
- speed: common actions are always one click away,
- clarity: commands are grouped into tabs so you can find features by intent (search, tags, style, etc.).
Where you’ll see the ribbon
Many pages in Searchspeare use a ribbon.
In practice, you’ll see it in two places:
- On the Projects page (project creation + project-level actions)
- Inside a project (the project workspace: Editor, QA, and other tools)
Tabs: how the ribbon is organized
The ribbon is organized into tabs.
- Tabs group commands by what you’re trying to do.
- Different pages can show different tabs (because different screens have different jobs).
For example:
- On the Projects page, you’ll typically use commands like New and Filters.
- Inside the project workspace, you’ll also find feature-focused tabs such as Tags (extra tag helpers) and Style (typography options like quotes type).

Projects ribbon (common commands: New + Filters)
Many pages in the app have ribbons. Two common commands you’ll see often are New and Filters.

Pin / unpin the ribbon
On the right side of the ribbon there’s a pin button
(pinned is the default).
- Pinned: the ribbon stays visible while you work.
- Unpinned: the ribbon collapses to save vertical space (and expands when you open a tab).

On the left side of the ribbon, there’s a menu button
that shows/hides the sidebar.
